The West Devon and East Cornwall Breast Screening service has announced the opening date of its new additional site at Merchant House, Notte Street, Plymouth, PL1 2AH. On a direct bus route and easily accessible for all, the new location will be operating from 17 February 2025.

Following the announcement from the Secretary of State that University Hospitals Plymouth will be part of the first wave of Trusts to receive funding under the New Hospital Programme, the construction of our new Emergency Care Building is now moving at pace.

Back in October, UHP teamed up with The Primrose Foundation to host an event at Plymouth’s Crowne Plaza Hotel, dedicated to hearing and learning from experiences of patients who have undergone abdominal free flap breast reconstruction.

Since opening its doors to patients last year, the Chestnut Urological Investigation Unit has reduced waiting times and improved the experience for patients.

University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust is delighted that following the government announcement of the New Hospital Programme review outcome, the new Emergency Care Building at Derriford Hospital can now proceed at pace. 

Our Emergency Department is currently very full and if you do not have an emergency or life-threatening condition, you may be redirected to other healthcare services. These include NHS 111, our Urgent Treatment Centre at the Cumberland centre, and our Minor Injury Units at Kingsbridge and Tavistock. You may also be advised to use local pharmacies or to contact your GP.
