To better serve the needs of our community, Livewell Southwest and University Hospitals Plymouth (UHP) are repurposing Mount Gould Hospital to create a Centre of Excellence for Rehabilitation and Ageing Well. This reconfiguration is designed to address the growing demand for rehabilitation and mental health services, aligning with national healthcare goals and the evolving needs of our local population.

A Memorandum of Understanding was recently signed, marking the commitment of University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust, University of Plymouth, Plymouth Science Park and Plymouth City Council to create a Health, Research, Education, Enterprise and Innovation Zone in the north of Plymouth, based around the hospital and Science Park estate.

Every year University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust (UHP) host the Learning Disability and Autism Awards to celebrate staff who go above and beyond in their every day clinical practice to support people with learning disabilities or who are autistic.

As of 1 May 2025, the Paediatric ED has relocated and pedestrian walk-ins will need to enter the building via the Main Entrance at the front of Derriford Hospital.

All minors (under 16) will need to be brought through the main entrance doors. Please then follow the red signs directing you to the Paediatric Emergency Department.

University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust have reached a milestone with the construction of the Plymouth Community Diagnostic Centre. This state-of-the-art facility, spanning 3 floors, is set to provide high quality diagnostic testing for our patients in Plymouth and the surrounding areas.

The south west’s major trauma centre and acute specialist hospital at Derriford will benefit from a new, state-of-the-art Emergency Care Building after the Department of Health and Social Care rubber-stamped funding for the project.
