Some of the Major Trauma Ward team

Thanks to the incredible commitment of our staff, we’re making some great progress for patients. We’ve reduced waits for patients arriving as emergencies and drastically reduced ambulance delays. Our Board also heard from the family of a patient with learning disability – hearing both praise and where things could have been better and we’ve got some great news about a new Major Trauma Ward.

Response to New Hospital Programme Review Terms of Reference

Following the announcement of the New Hospital Programme Review, as outlined by the Chancellor of the Exchequer on 29 July 2024, the Terms of Reference for the review have now been agreed with the Chief Secretary of HM Treasury. The paper details which schemes will form part of the review and includes Derriford Hospital’s new Urgent and Emergency Care Facility.

Open statement from UHP in response to violent protests

Over the last few days we have seen deplorable violence and intimidation in towns and cities across the UK. Many colleagues may have seen or heard the horrifying actions, and last night this spread to our city of Plymouth. On behalf of the board at UHP, we wholeheartedly condemn the deliberate acts of violence that have taken place and we want to make a clear statement about our values and behaviours as an organisation.
