Consultant Plastic Surgeon
Duncan MacKenzie graduated from King’s College School of Medicine in London in 1991. He spent 6 years gaining experience in other surgical specialties before starting plastic surgery training in 1997. Since then he trained in plastic surgery units in Bristol, Chelmsford, Plymouth, Norwich, Salisbury, Aylesbury and Oxford as well as Sydney and Perth in Australia.
He was awarded the degree of MD in 2004 and the specialist plastic surgery Fellowship of Royal College of Surgeons in 2008. He joined Derriford Hospital in 2009.
General areas of expertise:
Mr MacKenzie works with other consultant colleagues to provide a general plastic surgery service including skin tumour surgery, hand surgery including trauma, lower limb reconstruction surgery, treatment of small burns, and reconstruction of all areas of face, scalp and neck, breast and trunk.
Particular areas of expertise:
Mr MacKenzie provides a specialist service for paediatric plastic surgery. This includes hypospadias, vascular anomalies, ear and facial anomalies and congenital skin lesions. He also has an interest in aesthetic surgery.
