Consultant Cardiologist

General information:
Dr Morgan-Hughes graduated from Nottingham University in 1991 and, having completed training in cardiology and general medicine, and an MD thesis on the cardiac application of CT (the first of its kind in the UK), was appointed as a consultant cardiologist in 2005.

Dr Morgan-Hughes is a national and international expert on cardiac CT and is regularly invited to speak to professional groups on the subject. He also delivers training in cardiac CT to consultants and trainees from around the world. He has previously been Vice President of the British Society of Cardiovascular Imaging and holds level 3 (the highest) accreditation with them. He has more than 60 peer-reviewed publications to his name.

Particular areas of expertise:
Dr Morgan-Hughes is the lead clinician for cardiac ultrasound and is double accredited with the British Society of Echocardiography for transthoracic, transoesophageal echocardiography.  He is currently (2008-9) clinical lead for the pacing service.  He runs the Derriford cardiac computed tomography service in conjunction with Dr Carl Roobottom, radiologist.
