Our Areas:

Cardiology services at Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust encompass Bickleigh, Clearbrook and Torcross wards.

We provide specialised cardiology care for the population of Plymouth and beyond in state of the art facilities. We treat patients with a variety of cardiology problems, working as a cohesive multidisciplinary team to ensure we deliver a seamless service.

Neurology and Stroke services are delivered on Merrivale ward, a 29-bed acute ward. We have a dedicated neurology multidisciplinary team working together to provide the highest standard of care to patients from when they arrive in the Emergency Department, to when patients are discharged or transferred for ongoing care. The nursing team is supported by the Stroke Clinical Nurse Specialist team who provide expert advice and oversee the patient pathway

The Cardiology and Neurology nursing teams are overseen by Matron Tim Parham. Tim is accountable for ensuring patient care is of a safe, high standard across his wards.

The Senior Sister/Charge Nurse is responsible for the safety, quality and effectiveness of care delivered to patients on the ward. They manage the nursing team and ensure staff have the necessary knowledge and skills to undertake their job.
