General information:
Dr Patel graduated from the University of Nottingham in July 2000 and undertook Senior House Officer posts in General Medicine and Emergency Medicine, gaining MRCP in 2004. Dr Patel then spent 18 month training in Anaesthetics and Intensive Care, before beginning his specialist Respiratory Medicine training on the Yorkshire Rotation in 2007.
His PhD in asthma was completed during a research fellowship at the Medical Research Institute of New Zealand in Wellington, under the supervision of Professor Richard Beasley.
Dr Patel was a NIHR Clinical Lecturer in Respiratory Medicine at the University of Nottingham, working as part of the Severe Asthma Service and Respiratory Team at Nottingham City Hospital. He began as a Consultant Physician at Derriford Hospital in January 2016.
