Professor of Medicine

General information:
Jon Pinkney graduated from the University of London in 1985 and trained in medicine, specialising in endocrinology and diabetes. He obtained his MD thesis from University College London in 1997 and was subsequently Lecturer in Endocrinology at the University of Bristol and Wellcome Travelling Fellow at Pennington Research Center, Louisiana. He was senior lecturer in medicine at the University of Liverpool and subsequently at PCMD, and was appointed Professor in 2010.

The evaluation and treatment of severe obesity and its complications.

Particular areas of expertise:
Obesity, prediabetes, diabetes and vascular disease; the use of medical and surgical weight-reducing therapies in the prevention and clinical management of these conditions.
Medical and endocrine aspects of bariatric surgery.
