Consultant Anaesthetist
Dr Porter graduated from Guy’s HMS in 1989. He started as an anaesthetic SHO at Derriford in 1991. He completed anaesthetic training in the Northeast Deanery from 1994 to 2000.
Dr Porter was initially a consultant anaesthetist in Sunderland before moving back to Derriford Hospital in 2001.
General areas of expertise:
Provision of general anaesthesia services
Particular areas of expertise:
Anaesthesia for head and neck surgery, ophthalmology, regional anaesthetic techniques employing the use of ultrasound.
Dr Porter also helps to provide a vascular access service which involves the placement of Hickman and PICC lines.
