General information:
Mr Sharma first became interested in Spinal Surgery during MS(Orth) training in Indore, India when he wrote a thesis on scoliosis. He undertook higher surgical training in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery in West of Scotland, Glasgow and undertook Post-CCT specialist Spinal Fellowship training in Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK and at Sheffield, UK. Mr Sharma worked as a locum Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Spinal Surgeon at Western Infirmary, Glasgow for 18 months period prior to joining Derriford Hospital. 

Mr Sharma is a member of the British Orthopaedic Association, British Association of Spine Surgeons, British Scoliosis Society, AOSpine & BMA.

General areas of expertise:
Mr Sharma has done musculoskeletal trauma and general orthopaedic surgery for more than 10 years. The vast majority of his current clinical practice is adult spinal surgery. Mr Sharam is interested in all forms of spinal surgery including degenerative conditions of cervical and lumbar spine, vertebral body augmentation, adult deformity, trauma, tumours and infection. 

Mr Sharma has special interests in education and teaching both undergraduate & postgraduate and has a keen interests in clinical audits and research.

Mr Sharma has presented over 150 scientific presentations & published over 100 peer reviewed papers on various topics on spine, trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery.
