Waiting List Validation - FAQs
I have received a text from UHP-NHS asking me to fill in a form by clicking on a link, is this genuine?
Yes this is a genuine message from University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust (UHP-NHS), we are using text messaging as an alternative method to contact patients that are currently on a waiting list with us.
Why is the NHS asking me if I want to stay in the waiting list?
The COVID-19 pandemic has placed significant pressures on NHS services and exacerbated the already long waiting lists. We know that waiting for an appointment and/or treatment is difficult and we are grateful for your patience and for bearing with us. We are working hard to reduce our waiting times and ensure our patients are treated or seen as quickly as possible, and we know that some patients no longer need to be seen or treated by us. By ensuring our waiting lists are correct we can offer dates to patients sooner and ensure our time is spent seeing those patients that require our services.
What happens to the data I enter in the form? Who will be able to see it? Is my data secure?
The responses are held securely on an NHS server, the information is seen only by the validation team, and the clinical team delivering your care.
Is there a deadline to complete the form?
We would appreciate a response within 2 weeks of receiving the survey, where no response is received during this time we will be sending a reminder.
What happens if I don’t complete the form?
If you do not complete the form we will be asking your clinical team to review your current status which may mean they need to call you, but by filling in the form and confirming that you still require treatment, you are saving the time of many staff members that would otherwise have to call you.
What happens after I fill in the form? When can I expect to be seen?
When you have filled in the form, we will share your response with your clinical team, who will act according to your response. When you can expect to be seen will be based on your clinical priority.
