Plymouth Hospitals Charity’s Derriford Children's Cancer Service was established to enhance the care, support, and facilities provided for children undergoing treatment for cancer, and their families, which are not available through statutory funding or other charitable bodies.

Funding decisions are made by Dr Myooren Wimalendra, Consultant Paediatrician with special responsibility for paediatric oncology and his team, which includes medical and nursing staff, lead nurse, play-specialists, social worker and clinical psychologist.

The team works very closely with the children and families, developing strong "partnerships in care". Who better, then, to know their needs, than the Health Care Professionals and families working alongside each other.
