The surgical management of general surgical conditions is provided for the local population; this includes an emergency out of hours service. Procedures may be carried out under local or general anaesthetic. The acute surgical admissions provision of the Surgical Assessment Unit receives emergency admissions via ED, GP or Consultant clinics.
