Patients with liver disease will be treated in a brand new state-of-the-art space thanks to the refurbishment of the South West Liver Unit by University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust.

After extensive groundwork preparation, University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust (UHP) is pleased to announce the start of construction works for the Plymouth Community Diagnostic Centre in Colin Campbell Court.

University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust (UHP) is pleased to announce the opening of the new Bigbury Orthopaedic Surgical Suite. The new surgical suite is now fully operational and saw its first patients go through the three dedicated elective orthopaedic theatres in June.

University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust has a new dedicated Children’s surgical unit. The unit has expanded its facilities for children and families, and provides three operating theatres, a dedicated entrance and drop off area for children and young people, an admission area including spaces for children with additional needs, and a large stage recovery area so that children can be discharged home directly without needing to be admitted into the hospital. The unit welcomed its first children and young people in February 2024.

Local college students were recently invited to a building site to find out about different careers in construction and learn about a very special building process currently being undertaken at University Hospitals Plymouth.

Outpatients who need medication following a hosptial appointment will now benefit from a new pharmacy facility from Boots, which opened on 2 April.
