The Future Hospital Programme aims to transform how care is delivered and improve lives across Plymouth, Devon and Cornwall through investment in the most up-to-date healthcare environment.

We are creating buildings and services to provide high-quality care and better health outcomes for people and their families, through every stage of life.

This includes services which are closer to people's homes, digital transformation, state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment to support faster diagnosis, and new interventional radiology theatres and surgical theatres to be able to treat patients more quickly.

Some of the main benefits of the programme include a new purpose-built Emergency Care Building which will double the space to care for the increasing numbers of patients with urgent and emergency conditions.

  1. Emergency Care Building

    A state of the art facility to improve care for those people who need urgent and emergency treatment, creating more space and reducing waiting times.

Urgent treatment centre and fracture clinic

  1. Dartmoor Building

    Construction is under way for the new Dartmoor Building which will be home to the Urgent Treatment Centre and Fracture Clinic at the Derriford Hospital site. The new building will be located opposite the multi-storey car park, Costa and Boots pharmacy.

  1. Plymouth Community Diagnostic Centre

    Plymouth has been announced as a site for a new Community Diagnostic Centre due to open. Located in Plymouth’s West End it will provide wider access to critical diagnostic tests.
