Our aim is to promote a sustainable healthcare environment and greener models of healthcare
In December 2020, our Trust declared a ‘Climate Health Emergency’ and launched its Green Plan "For a Greener Future" . Our Green Plan outlines the key work streams that will contribute to the continual improvement in sustainability performance throughout the Trust. The Environment Group is responsible for delivering the ‘Healthy & Sustainable Environment’ module in the Trust’s Green Plan.
The Environment Group exists to:
- monitor and protect the Hospital’s natural surroundings and the impact that health activities incur
- assess Trust projects that may have an effect on the natural environment with the aim of finding solutions that protect our environment or identify mitigation following any damage
- provide a discussion forum on the natural environment, sustainability, green transport, etc.
The Environment Group offers members of staff, our patients and the general public a forum in which environmental topics can be discussed openly - a communication medium on issues specifically relating to the environment as well as the opportunity to get actively involved in some of our environmental improvement projects, such as tree planting.
The Group meets bi-monthly and at other times for special issues or improvement projects. If you would like to be get involved or would any further information about the group, please email us at plh-tr.EnvironmentalGroup@nhs.net
