Donation of Usborne books for young patients at Derriford

Usborne books donated We would like to say a big thank you to Usborne Book Organiser, Vikki Dernham, for once again generously donating a large number of books to our children’s wards at Derriford Hospital.

At the end of last year, Vikki donated £1,000 worth of Usborne books so that children staying at Derriford could have some lovely new books to read.

“As part of my role, one of the things we can offer schools and organisations linked with children is free books!” explains Vikki. “These can be gained by fundraising events to raise the funds and then Usborne will add a percentage of additional free books, depending on the amount raised.”

Sue Rodgers, Play Service Team Leader at Derriford Hospital and Fundraising Co-ordinator for the Children’s Happy Hospital Fund said, “We are thankful to everyone that helped Vikki raise the funds to enable her to purchase such wonderful books.

“Usborne books are fantastic to distract children, either by the bedside or while they are receiving treatment. These books have brought lots of smiles to our patients. We’d therefore like to thank Vikki, her family and friends, and of course Usborne books.”
