Local charity, Hugs from Henry, paid a visit to the children’s wards at Derriford Hospital today with a special surprise for the patients.

The Hugs from Henry team and Plymouth Party Princesses The Hugs from Henry team, accompanied by Plymouth Party Princesses, visited the ward to spread some Christmas cheer. Christmas gifts which were kindly donated by members of the public were handed out by Disney Princesses; Aurora from Sleeping Beauty, Ariel from The Little Mermaid and Princess Anna from Frozen.

Hugs from Henry was founded by Elsbeth Hallam when her son, Henry, was diagnosed with  a neuroblastoma. The charity provides support for local children throughout the South West and beyond.

Becky Case from the charity said: “The children’s eyes lit up when they saw the Princesses. It really brightened up their day.”

Jo Cross, Hospital Play Specialist, thanked the team: “They have been really supportive and the donations make a real difference to the children.”

This is the fourth year that Hugs from Henry have visited the children’s wards at Christmas time. The support from Plymouth Party Princesses means that patients can see some of their favourite characters come to life. “The children absolutely love it”, adds Jo.
