Flu Autumn and Winter 2026 vaccination programme
The 2026 and 2027 Autumn and Winter flu programme runs from 1 September 2026 to 31 March 2027.
The best time to have a flu vaccine is in the autumn before flu starts spreading but you can get vaccinated later too.

Symptoms of flu
Flu symptoms come on very quickly and can include:

a sudden high temperature

an aching body
-
feeling tired or exhausted

a dry cough
-
a sore throat
-
a headache
-
difficulty sleeping
-
loss of appetite
-
diarrhoea, tummy pain, feeling sick (nausea) and being sick (vomiting) - although these are less common in adults
The symptoms are similar for children, but they can also get pain in their ear, sore eyes, swollen glands and appear less active.
