Plymouth is a vibrant waterfront city packed full of attractions and with something for everyone to enjoy. Right on the doorstep of Dartmoor national park and within touching distance of Cornwall, Plymouth has some incredible attractions from the UK’s largest aquarium to exciting museum and galleries, cinemas and theatres, great waterfront eateries and nightlife to suit every taste. It has a rich and eclectic history with fascinating local sites to explore and discover.
Whether you’re in the city or our surrounding countryside we boast the most spectacular and breathtaking views. For the more active there’s endless walking and cycle routes, on and in-water adventures, we even have a ski and snowboard centre. Armchair sporting enthusiast? We have Plymouth Argyle FC, Plymouth Albion Rugby Football Club and the Plymouth Patriots basketball team.
The south west has better weather than most of the rest of the UK and our westerly location means we usually see milder winters and warmer summers. Our unique location gives us an abundance of high quality, locally sourced fresh meat and sumptuous seafood as well as delicious fresh farm produce. Not forgetting all those cream teas and food festivals that we are so famous for.
Children in the south west benefit from not only a great education but also the opportunity to spend quality time outdoors. Plymouth has three grammar schools and a medical and healthcare college for those wishing to progress to careers in those sectors. There are many great schools to choose from, to suit students of all ages and abilities, including those with SEND. Here in Plymouth we also have two award winning universities.
