New features for MY CARE coming on Wednesday 11 November 2026
The Epic upgrade taking place on Wednesday 11 November is bringing these new features to MY CARE.
Paperless After Visit Summaries (AVS) and AVS for All
Dynamic AVS Reports - MY CARE will now always display the most up-to-date version of the AVS for a completed encounter. Any updates made to the AVS after the visit will be reflected when the patient views the report.
AVS for Patients Without MY CARE (AVS For All) - You can now choose to send an AVS electronically to patients who do not have a MY CARE account. The patient will receive an email or text containing a secure link to access their AVS. To verify their identity, the patient must enter their Date of Birth before the AVS can be viewed. This provides a secure way to share visit information with patients who have not enrolled in MY CARE while also reducing the need for printing and posting.

Clinical questionnaires
Questionnaires in MY CARE now generally show one question per page. For most question types, after a patient enters a response to a question, they are automatically taken to the next page.
When patients see a group question with a table layout, they can use Yes to all/No to all buttons to respond faster when all questions have a type of Yes/No.
They will also see a confirmation window that asks if they are ready to submit the questionnaire instead of a Review Answers page, which lowers the chance of accidently leaving the questionnaire without submitting it.

Care journeys
Patients seen in Maternity, Oncology and Research will have their information for that pathway pulled together on one screen in MY CARE called a Care Journey. This will include appointments, medication, test results, tasks and consents.

Email and phone number updates
Patients will be notified whenever the mobile number or email address on their record is changed. Staff should verify the updated details with the patient before making any changes. If the correct information cannot be confirmed, the change should be deferred until verification is possible.
When a patient receives notification of a change to their contact details, they will now have the option to undo the change or remove the newly added contact information, as appropriate.
Show historical home visits
We will now display historical home visits in the Past Visits section. Previously, if a patient was seen at home by one of our community teams, those appointments would not appear in their visit history. These appointments will now be shown.
This change includes historical visits, so patients may see significantly more past appointments in their Past Visits section than they could previously.
Find test results faster
You can now filter test results by unread status and date range, in addition to existing filters like hospital visits. You can also manage your test result notification preferences directly in the Test Results activity from a new settings page.

Patients can now designate contacts as emergency contacts
When adding or editing Patient Contacts, you can now designate contacts as emergency contacts. If you have more than one emergency contact, you can also choose which one is the primary contact. Your primary emergency contact is listed first, followed by other emergency contacts and then other contacts.
We recommend you take this opportunity to set up an emergency contact - the below banner will display in Patient Contacts if you have no current emergency contact:
