Practitioner Specialist Mechanical Workshop (Mechanical Engineer) 

General Information:
Steve has worked in engineering since the 1970s, starting his career with a time served apprenticeship as a fitter and welder with a local machine manufacturing company and then later working within Derriford Hospital in the Estates Department. 

Steve has wide ranging engineering skills and has achieved a number of coded welding qualifications. 

Steve is proficient in working with a range of materials including metals, wood and plastics and will support any requests for new or modified mechanical devices. 

Qualifications:
 Apprenticeship – Fitter, welder. 

Specific areas of expertise:

• Supports The Trust in providing support to medical mechanical equipment and devices
• Designs, develops and manufactures complex and novel medical items
• Provides specialist engineering knowledge and skills to clinical staff and clients
• Proficient in a large range of mechanical engineering practices
