Clinical Engineering (CE) provides technical support to medical equipment users in Plymouth, South West Devon and East Cornwall. Our main facilities are based at Derriford Hospital and have been established for over 50 years.

The service provides whole life management of medical devices from pre-purchase assessment through advice, safety and maintenance issues to end of life disposal.

CE offers this comprehensive range of services to all sectors of the clinical professions. Situated near to the centre of its catchment area, CE is quick to respond whilst providing the highest standards of quality and safety and is a cost-effective solution.

Global CE Day

It is a worldwide celebration recognising the important contributions of clinical engineers to healthcare and is celebrated on the 21st of October each year.  

The clinical engineering workforce plays an essential part in delivering safe and high-quality modern healthcare. These professionals play a vital role in providing governance, clinical training, procuring and managing life-saving equipment for example ventilators.
