
Clinical Engineering provides a comprehensive and cost effective service in Medical Equipment Management, supporting the activities of University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust, surrounding primary care units and the British Antarctic Survey Medical Unit (BASMU).
Services are also provided to other health organisations within the catchment area. The department aims to provide a rapid response to urgent problems with minimum equipment 'down-time' and at minimum cost to the user. Clinical Engineering includes 3 specialist teams: Critical Care (CC) Therapies & Diagnostics (D&T) Theatres & Anaesthetics (T&A)
Clinical Engineering manages the acquisition, maintenance, repair, decommissioning and disposal of Medical Devices.All medical devices that have been registered with Clinical Engineering carry the service label below containing the unique device number. The device number should be quoted in all enquiries about a device. When returning a device to Clinical Engineering please keep a record of the device number and send the device to the address on the contacts page.
