The Critical Care Section led by Steve Bond provides firstline services to the Emergency and Critical Care units and wards of the hospital.

The Critical Team within MEMS at Derriford Hospital consists of a team of highly skilled and trained technicians servicing the medical equipment needs for all critical areas.

Areas such as Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Emergency Department and Derriford's Intensive care Unit (amongst other critical areas) contain many specialist pieces of medical equipment unique to their roles within the hospital. Our technicians work in harmony with the staff in these areas, performing planned preventative maintenance, repairs and systems management to the highest degree of traceability and compliance with manufacturers recommended practices, with an aim of ensuring that critical equipment is always available where it is needed most, at the patient's side.
