
Putt, Colin
Associate Clinical Practitioner, Mechanical Engineer.
General Information:
Colin has worked in engineering since 1965, starting his career in HM Naval Base as a fitter and turner and ultimately, specialising in weapons engineering. Colin moved to teaching engineering with the MoD until transferring to the College of Further Education in Plymouth as the General Manager of the training centre for Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical and Fabrication Engineers and the head of Marine Engineering.
Colin also works as the Officer in Charge of Plymouth Junior Mixed Youth Offenders Attendance Centre for the Ministry of Justice, Youth Justice Board.
He also teaches at his Karate club in Plymouth and is a senior instructor at International level for Shotokan Karate, self defence and personal protection (recognising and managing difficult behaviour and situations).

- HNC – Medical engineering & systems
- ONC – Plant Engineering
- City & Guilds - Part 1-4 - Machining processes & practices
- NVQ - Assessor (4, 5) – Engineering
- Welding - BS4872, part 2
Specific areas of expertise:
- Bespoke design and build projects for treatment and wellbeing of patients and medical equipment aids. Designs, develops and manufactures complex and novel medical items.
- Services and repairs surgical instruments and medical equipment for clinical departments.
- Manufactures components in a range of metals and plastics using a wide spectrum of machine and hand skills.
- Excellent all round knowledge of engineering tools and techniques, backed up with vocational and non-vocational certificates held in supporting subjects.
- Proficient in Welding on range of materials.
