Background
This service has been created to provide specialist physiotherapy for people living with brain tumours in Plymouth. It is a charity funded position, supported by the Living with and Beyond Cancer initiative in Plymouth.
This is currently in its pilot phase, this means that during your time with the service, you may be asked for feedback in order to shape the service in the future. Your consent will always be gained for this and you are under no pressure to contribute if you do not wish to.
This service sits within the Neuro Oncology Specialist Team at Derriford, and links with St Lukes and Livewell South West, as well as Marjon and Brain Tumour charities.
Our Aim
We aim to help you cope with the side effects of your tumour, and any surgical or oncology treatments that you have as a result of it.
You can be referred into the service from your CNS, your oncologist or from hospital staff. You may initially be seen on the ward or at home, dependent on your individual situation.
We seek to set goals which are relevant to you. You are at the centre of your care. How we work together will be guided by you and your family, and is flexible and adaptable if your needs may change.
