You have been assessed in the Emergency Department and it has been determined that you need assessment in a specialist musculoskeletal clinic to investigate your back pain.

What happens next?

  1. You will be contacted by a member of the Lumbar Spine Pathway team on the next working day (Mondays for patients seen on Friday, Saturday or Sunday) to arrange an appointment (normally within 72hrs of contact).
  2. The team will discuss investigation and management options with you.
  3. If you have not heard from the team by 2pm the next working day, then please contact 01752 432201.

Your GP will be notified that you have been referred to this pathway.

  • If your symptoms change or deteriorate while you are waiting for an appointment, then you should present urgently to the Emergency Department for review.
