Meldon is an acute medical ward, with a special interest in caring for the elderly. We have 28 beds and look after female patients. If you require any assistance whilst you are on the ward, please don’t hesitate to ask a member of the ward team

Ward Philosophy

We offer an open and friendly environment where the patient and family members can express their needs. We are here to listen. We will strive to offer high quality, safe care, using our MultiDisciplinary Team approach, and we see families are also an important part of our team to support the patient through their stay. We would like to maintain dignity and self-esteem by valuing the patients individuality. We encourage own comfortable clothes to be worn.

Ward Visiting Times

The ward is open to visitors at all times. We do ask that if you want to visit after 10pm that you speak to the Nursing team.

We have very little space and so to prevent the ward getting overcrowded, the number of visitors is restricted to two per patient, at any one time please.

Telephone Calls

For general information: (01752) 439777. To speak to the patient on our mobile: (01752) 245102

Mornings and mealtimes are the busiest times on the ward. The Team meet and will plan care and treatment at 12.00-13.00 It would therefore be appreciated, and hopefully more informative for to you, if you could try to leave non-urgent calls until after 2pm.

Due to confidentiality, a patient’s diagnosis cannot be discussed over the telephone. We can make arrangements if this becomes a problem by using a prearranged password.

Doctors’ Ward Rounds

The name of your consultant should be written on the board above your bed. The Consultant and the Doctor team will see our patients every

If you wish to see a doctor to discuss your relative’s condition, please talk to the ward clerk, nurse or ring the ward to arrange an appointment.

If you have large amounts of money with you, please tell the staff so that it can be banked safely with the hospital cashier whilst you are in hospital.

Please remember, the hospital does not accept responsibility for loss or damage to any personal property you choose to keep with you.
