Accessing our Emergency Department during construction work

a photo of the ED entrance

We are currently making improvements to the entrance of our Emergency Department, which will take a few months to complete. During this period, a safe pedestrian diversion is in place and a marshal will be present to advise and guide you safely to the Emergency Department at peak times.

In the coming weeks, there will also be changes to the traffic flow into the hospital site due to drainage works which will be taking place at the front of the hospital. Please look out for diversion signs during this time.

If you come by vehicle, please park in car park A or the multi-storey car park and then follow the diversion signs which start opposite the main hospital entrance. For your safety, please follow the public footpath opposite the white hoarding and take care when crossing roads as the hospital site is busy with construction vehicles, buses and taxis.

These improvements are a crucial first step in enhancing the Emergency Department for patients, as part of the enabling works to build a new Urgent and Emergency Care facility building at Derriford

Thank you for your patience.
