Messages to those who cared: Georgia and Vince share their experience at UHP

When patients receive excellent care, they often fill out our ‘saying thank you’ forms on the Trust website to thank the staff that looked after them, which is exactly what Georgia Morgia, and her husband Vince Morgia did after the birth of their baby Vienna in November of 2024.
When speaking about why they filled out the thank you forms, Vince said: “I think it’s important to say thank you, especially in a hospital environment. You go through the experience yourself, but your memory gets a bit blurry, so I think at the time people just tend to forget to appreciate people at the time”.
Georgia continued this sentiment, adding: “I think it’s important because you need to show your appreciation when appreciation is needed”.
Unfortunately, Georgia and Vince’s experience was not entirely positive, as they had the devastating news that during their pregnancy, Georgia’s twins, Venus and Vienna, had twin to twin transfusion syndrome, and this meant that they lost Venus during the pregnancy.
“We had such an awful experience losing Vienna’s twin sister, and for it to be positive in the end with the amount of support from each staff member who look after us, I just felt so overwhelmed. I knew I had to thank them, because it would have been really difficult without them.
“They deserve to know that they helped us, and that they did a good job. It was important that each of them knew how much they meant to us,” Georgia reflected.
Despite having gone through the turmoil of the loss of a baby, the couple feel that they have come out of the other side with a positive experience, praising the staff for having such difficult jobs, but still providing excellent care.
Georgia added: “I think when there are good outcomes, it makes all of the difference for people to hear that they are doing a good job, especially when they have had to deliver difficult news.
“Having a little miracle success story amongst the darkness and grey clouds is really nice to hear. It’s like a little rainbow in the storm”
