IT Issues affecting University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust

We wanted to notify our patients, families and partners that we are currently experiencing issues affecting the speed of some of our IT systems.

We are continuing to run our clinical systems and care for patients as usual but in order to reduce the load on our systems, we have minimised the number of staff logged on. This means that partners and those contacting the organisation by email, MS Teams etc will likely face some delay in response. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. If your enquiry is urgent, please phone.

Our IT engineers are working hard to resolve the technical problem and we will provide an update here as soon as that happens.

Attending our hospitals and sites

If you have an appointment at any of the hospitals or sites we care for patients at, (Derriford Hospital, Tavistock Hospital, Kingsbridge Hospital, Mount Gould Hospital, Child Development Centre, Dialysis Unit, Radiology Academy) please continue to attend as normal.

If you need urgent or emergency care please #HelpUstoHelpYou by calling NHS 111 or visiting NHS 111 online for urgent medical help and advice but call 999 if it's a life-threatening emergency. NHS 111 can refer into Emergency Departments or direct to Urgent Treatment Centres/Minor Injury Units. You can find more information about urgent and emergency care services on our Stay Well This Winter site via this link. Thank you - we are here if you need us.

Update: 5pm on 13 December 2023

Technical engineers report that, following remedial work, the issues affecting multiple IT systems have been fixed. We are expecting to return to business as usual tomorrow (Thursday 14 December), with staff log on being staggered tomorrow morning. Thank you to our staff who have worked through this to minimise disruption to patients. We apologise to the radiotherapy patients who had their planned treatment postponed today. This is because the complex technical requirements of delivering radiotherapy were affected by the network issues. Every patient affected has been contacted and spoken to regarding their appointment schedules.
