COVID vaccine all-staff briefing
This morning we had 40 patients with confirmed COVID, of which five are in ICU. This has reduced considerably from a peak of 90+ a few weeks ago and we have been able to empty and are cleaning Braunton and Bickleigh, ready for non-COVID care.
As the graph below shows, the Plymouth Community R rate has also fallen to 77.1 per 100,000 at the end of November (down from 129 per 100,000) on 21st November. The same trend is true for our 60+ year olds (this cohort accounts for ~75% of our COVID cases).
In light of this downtrend trajectory, as an executive team we have today decided at our Gold Command meeting to stand down the daily Bronze, Silver and Gold meeting structure.
We will, of course, review this and we should all be aware as individuals that we cannot let our guard down re the use of PPE and adhering to strict infection control practices and Hands, Face, Space. The prevalence of the virus has reduced in our community and hospital cases but COVID-19 has not gone away.
Our Hands, Face, Space Champions heard a sobering account from one colleague about their experience of the virus and long COVID at their network meeting this week and it’s important we do everything we can to protect ourselves, our loved ones and our patients and colleagues.
Thank you
