PHC’s Derriford Abseil Raises a Whopping £46,000!
Wow, what a weekend!
On the 14th & 15th of September, 170 brave PHC fundraisers tipped their toes off the edge of level 13 and abseiled six floors down, landing above Marks & Spencers.
If that wasn't heroic enough... in doing so, they have also raised an incredible £46,000 (and counting!) for their local hospitals.
We are deeply moved and grateful to everyone who joined us and made the weekend so special. A big shout out to our courageous abseilers, their families who cheered from the grass below, the UHP volunteers who welcomed and supported our fundraisers, Site Services, and the brilliant crew at Devon Adventure!
The tremendous amount of funds raised will support brilliant ideas that make our hospitals a better place for everyone. None of this would be achievable without the bravery and dedication of fundraisers like our abseilers, who go above and beyond to make a difference.
Here are some of our highlights...
We were greeted not by one but by five superheroes who came to support their local hospitals. Captain America, Captain Marvel, Spiderman, Bat Woman, and Wonder Woman all conquered the challenge!
So did Foxy, Emilie and Natalie from Plymouth Raiders and the Plymouth Raiders Cheerleading group!
We saw many people face their fears...
And so much love and support among teammates, cheering each other on until they reached the ground again.
The usually uncharted Derriford rooftop offered breath-taking panoramic views of the moors and sea!
And we were thrilled by the number of you who want to do it again! Bring on the Derriford Abseil 2025!
Plymouth Hospitals Charity Fundraising Manager, Jamie Lee, said, “A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our very first Derriford Abseil. All the abseilers should feel so proud of what they’ve accomplished. It's no small feat to abseil from that height, and the money they've raised will make such a big difference for patients, their families, and staff. We hope you all had a fantastic time!"
