Snowdrop Suite Fund & Memory Tree

The Snowdrop Suite is a dedicated space created for families who sadly lose their baby during pregnancy or birth. Located away from the Central Delivery Suite at Derriford, this space has been thoughtfully designed by bereaved parents to offer a refuge for others navigating the hardest time any parent can face.

Help Us Fund a Beautiful Memory Tree

This Christmas, through to the blossoming of the  Snowdrops in March, we are asking for your support to create a memory tree in the Snowdrop Suite.

The memory tree will feature beautiful leaves, each of which can be engraved with a name for parents wishing to remember their babies in this very special way.

Your generous donations will enable us to bring this beautiful memory tree to the Snowdrop Suite and will ensure that all future engravings are offered at no cost, to all families in remembrance of their baby.

We hope this tree provides some comfort to parents, gently reminding them that they are not alone and their baby will always be remembered in Snowdrop.

With your help, we can ensure this tree takes root, giving special recognition to the tiniest of babies this Christmas.

Any funds raised above our goal will be used in the Snowdrop rooms ensuring this compassionate and consoling space continues to provide support and comfort in the years to come.

“To be able to offer a leaf for parents, both now and in the future, thanks to the wonderful donations that come in for Snowdrop, is the very least we can do, and we are honoured to help facilitate this” — Corinne Smith, Head of Charity.

The Snowdrop Suite

We understand that nothing can ease the ache of losing a child, but we can do our best to provide a space that offers gentle comfort and care. The suite was made to give parents a private and homely environment to receive ongoing care and support, as well as time to create special memories with their baby—memories they can treasure forever.

The suite opened in October 2023, made possible by the generous contributions of our incredible donors who raised over £200,000. It features a private entrance separate from the main maternity department and includes a cosy double bedroom, an en-suite bathroom, a kitchen and outdoor space. With a cold cuddle cot at their bedside, parents can spend precious time with their baby to create lasting memories and say goodbye in their own time and in a way that brings them comfort.

“We know that no facilities will lessen the grief, but we hope that the dedicated space, discretely aside from the rest of the central delivery suite, can help the best care be given in as sensitive an environment as possible” — Kirstie Willis, Bereavement Midwife at University Hospitals Plymouth.
