Virtual Eye Clinic – Eye Pressure Check

What will this visit involve?

A health care assistant or a nurse will check your sight for distance with or without your current prescription glasses.

If you have your latest prescription glasses for driving or TV, kindly bring them along with you.

You will have your pressure tested.

What will happen next?

You may not know the results of this examination immediately but, we will write to you with the outcome within 4 weeks. Your GP will also be informed of the result at the same time. Based on this examination you may be either:

1) Be asked to attend our Urgent Care department.

2) Called for a further outpatient appointment to discuss treatment options with the specialist.

Or

3) Arranged an appointment in a similar clinic in 3, 6 or 9 months’ time. This will be to monitor the eye closely as a specific eye treatment is not indicated at this time.

Or

4) Discharged to the Community Glaucoma Eye Screening Service for annual screening if everything looks fine.

Whilst waiting for the results, please do not ring the REI secretary, or any member of staff for the results. They are not allowed to give the results of the scan, as they are not medically trained to interpret the results.
