A local author has kindly donated a copy of his latest book to Derriford Hospital’s library service for patients and staff to enjoy.

Tony Rea, from Ivybridge, recently appeared on Charlotte Willis’ teatime programme on Hospital Radio Plymouth to talk about his latest book, ‘Red Sky Over Dartmoor’, and how he became an author. He originally wanted to offer a copy of the book as a prize on the radio but later decided to donate a copy to the library, to allow more people to benefit.

The hospital library for patients and staff is based on level 5 and run by the Royal Voluntary Service. It stocks over a thousand books and offers an additional mobile trolley service, visiting patients at their bedsides most weekdays. The library itself is currently open every Thursday from 10:00 to 15:15 and alternate Mondays 11:00 to 14:00.

“We are very grateful to Tony for his kind donation,” said Andrew Hill, Hospital Radio Plymouth Station Manager: “The presentation of this book to the library is a good example of charities within the hospital working together for the benefit of the patients we serve.”
