Thanks to Tamar View Nurseries and their charitable customers

Dean Binley and Sue Rodgers

Over the Christmas period, Tamar View Nurseries raised a grand total of £395.99 for the Children’s Happy Hospital Fund, which aims to make a difference for all young patients and their families and carers, both in hospital and at home.

The garden centre, which is based in Saltash, held a customer collection as part of their Christmas grotto, as well as their Christmas ‘wishes, dreams and memories’ tree.

Dean Binley and Sue Rodgers “As part of our Christmas tree, people could write messages for loved ones, dreams for the future or simply a fond memory of their Christmas past, along with providing a charity donation,” explains Dean Binley, who visited Derriford Hospital on Wednesday on behalf of the garden centre. “Our staff wanted to support local charities, particularly at this time of year, and felt that this amount of money would make a big difference to them.

“The donations took off from day one and the tree was bursting with messages. We are incredibly proud to have such a generous and loyal customer base who wanted to donate to the Children’s Happy Hospital Fund and help to brighten the lives of the children admitted to the hospital.”

Sue Rodgers, Play Service Team Leader at Derriford Hospital and Fundraising Co-ordinator for the fund, added: “Thank you to everyone for their contribution. This amount of money will make a huge difference to the resources we are able to provide to the children and their families.”
