Have a ball raising funds for the Keep Me Close appeal this autumn.
After the incredible success of our past three events, we are delighted to be hosting our fourth black tie ball to raise funds for our Keep Me Close Appeal.
Keep Me Close supports accommodation for those parents of sick and premature babies who are being cared for at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Derriford Hospital. It enables parents to live right next to the hospital to be near to their children during what can be a difficult and emotional time for them. It means a lot for parents to have somewhere close by — within a 'pajama run' of NICU. Here's what one parent said:
I stayed, alongside my husband, at Keep Me Close for 6 weeks when my daughter was born at 24 weeks at Derriford (we later transferred to other hospitals). We actually live in Exeter and so had we not had the option of KMC accommodation we would have had a 100 mile round trip (2 hours) every SINGLE day! Which would have cost I reckon around £900 in petrol for us to be with Mia every day while she was in their NICU. Not only did it save us a commute, we were also just a 5 min walk away from her which meant when there were emergencies (of which there were several) we could get there ASAP! This isn’t just about money but about immediate access to your babies should they be close to dying or severely poorly. The accommodation means some mums or dads have been able to hold their babies in their final moments, and for us meant we were able to be there when Mia was very close to death- but luckily survived. It means everything. The accommodation was always clean, quiet and convenient. Thank you so much KMC ❤️
Every year we need to raise funds to support this ongoing and vital service for parents. As a tribute to the incredible work of Keep Me Close we would love you to join us in celebrating all that they do, and help us continue providing this vital service for parents in the future.
This year's ball is taking place at the Boringdon Park Golf Club on the evening of Saturday 23rd November. There’ll be drinks on arrival, a three-course meal, live music, raffle and a few surprises. So come and join us for a night to remember.
