A local gentleman has donated a whopping £1,000 to Derriford Hospital, in memory of his beloved wife.

Chris Elliot wanted to find a way to thank hospital staff working on Brent Ward, for their care and support for his wife Lynne, who had regularly stayed on the ward before sadly passing away at their family home.

Chris decided that instead of providing flowers for Linda’s funeral, to ask friends and family to kindly donate towards Brent Ward instead. A total of just over £1,000 was raised as a result.

Speaking about the donation, Chris said: “I’m sure that Linda would have been very happy to contribute. She never saw the point in buying flowers, so it made sense to give something back.”

Samantha Rowe, Senior Sister, added: “We are really grateful to Chris for thinking of us at this difficult time, and for raising such a large amount for our ward. It is very thoughtful and will ultimately benefit the patients in our care.”
