Co-op raise over £2,000 for Snowdrop Appeal

Local Co-op stores have raised over £2,000 towards the Snowdrop Appeal, which aims to support bereaved parents at Derriford Hospital.

Co-op staff present a cheque to the Snowdrop Appeal Staff and customers from three Co-op stores in Plymouth (Frogmore Avenue, Fort Austin and Higher Compton) raised a total of £2,190.47, with support from the Co-op Local Community Fund.

“One of the ways our customers helped to raise the funds was simply using their Co-op membership cards”, explained Amy Hodgetts, Deputy Store Manager and Alex Duff, Team Leader, both from the Frogmore store. “We’re really grateful to them, and to everyone who helped to raise the money.”

The Snowdrop Appeal was set up by Greg and Jen Phillips, after Jen gave birth to Jasmine, who was stillborn at 32 weeks. The couple wanted to help bereaved parents of still birth, miscarriage and early baby loss, by helping to fund a specialist unit at Derriford Hospital, as well as to provide support to help families through such a difficult time.

“From all of us at Snowdrop, we’d like to thank the Co-op for this fantastic donation and for their support,” added Greg and Jen.
