Stuart Windsor, Future Hospital Director

Stuart Wndsor

Stuart Windsor commenced his role as Future Hospital Director with University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust in April 2021.

Prior to this, he held a number of roles within the Trust including more recently as Director of Estates and Facilities. In this role, Stuart has worked closely with counterparts across the region to develop and foster collaboration, and share best practice. Stuart was announced as the Health Estates & Facilities Management Association’s Leader of the Year, for his inclusive, consultative and inspirational leadership style which is driving service improvement through a clear and common vision that is shared and has been developed, organically, by the whole team.

Prior to joining the NHS, Stuart worked for Serco and came to Plymouth in 2009 to be the Contract Director for the newly awarded Hotel Services Contract. Before this, Stuart was a Scientist, and spent 13 years working in a variety of roles in the National Physical Laboratory.

As University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust’s Future Hospital Director, Stuart is responsible for leading the work on the redevelopment of Derriford Hospital, including the wider infrastructure needed to deliver the hospitals clinical services. Stuart works closely with the other Directors and leaders across the City and Peninsula, to ensure that the Trust’s future plans enable the delivery of high quality care in the right place, and that new facilities are adaptable to future demand. Locally Stuart sits on the Plymouth Public Sector Land Board, and is active in One Public Estate initiatives.
