Covid-19 information

We understand the risks of COVID and catching COVID can be worrying for people with Parkinson’s. The most important thing is to stay safe. Guidance is often changing. Up-to-date advice can be found on the Parkinson’s UK website:

https://www.parkinsons.org.uk/news/understanding-coronavirus-and-parkinsons

Parkinson’s UK also provide current information and advice via their helpline: 0808 800 0303, as well as a Facebook group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/parkinsonsukcommunitygroup).

At University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust, we are continuing our support of all people with Parkinson’s admitted to Derriford Hospital and our other community hospitals in the area. If you are admitted to the hospital, we will provide advice to the nursing and medical teams looking after you, and will come and see you in person if needed.

Our Home Based Care service continues as normal, with the phone line and the email inbox are checked regularly (mon-fri, exluding bank holidays). Remote monitoring continues, so please do send back your questionnaires when they are posted out to you. Please remember the Home Based Care Facebook group, which is a good source of information and support.

We continue to work closely with our colleagues in the community teams, so please do contact your community nurse, your consultant or the Home Based Care Inbox (plh-tr.parkinsonshbc@nhs.net) or Helpline (01752 432 681) if you have any questions or concerns.
