Stroke and TIA Team
Stroke consultants:
Dr Alex Shah, Dr Azlisham Mohd Nor, Dr Ginette Crossingham and Dr Victor-Laurian Rusu.
The stroke consultant is responsible for your medical care. The consultant covers one week at a time and does a ward round on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. If you would like to speak to the ward consultant, our ward clerk can arrange this. The consultant is supported by a team of resident doctors.
Stroke Unit Ward Manager:
Sister Victoria Phare. Victoria is supported by a team of junior charge nurses, staff nurses and health care assistants, and supported by the wards clinical educator.
Stroke Specialist Nurses:
Debbie Heath, Jason Hatwell, Miranda Sweet, Laxmi Sanjeev, Amy Swabey, Sony Philip, Kristine Monsalve, Lijo Genoy, Jincy Chacko. You will see one of the Stroke Specialist Nurses in the first few hours of transfer to the ward. They work very closely with the doctor to provide emergency care, such as thrombolysis, and referrals for Thrombectomy where necessary.
Therapy:
Craig Tucker (physiotherapist) is therapy lead for stroke. He is supported by a team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech and language therapists, and received input form dieticians, social workers, and psychologists. The team includes Jacquie Jasper, lead speech and language therapist; Rebecca Long, lead occupational therapist; Carina Charnley and Alice Dallow, lead physiotherapists; Sarah Epps, lead stroke dietician.
