Positively Green

UHP embarks on Green Impact

The Sustainability Team are super excited to celebrate the launch of our Green Impact Programme! Green Impact is a sustainability accreditation programme for staff and students that rewards sustainable action within departments and teams. Teams from across the Trust are invited to form and work through our online toolkit to implement positive sustainability changes, and work towards an award. By taking part, staff can learn more about sustainability, lead on something outside of their day-to-day role, develop new skills, and make a real positive impact on sustainability.

Green Impact itself is a multi-award-winning employee engagement programme, provided by the not-for-profit charity SOS-UK (Students Organising for Sustainability). We were drawn to the programme because the structure of the toolkit and the awards resembles that of The Royal College of Emergency medicine sustainability accreditation programme, Green ED. As mentioned in previous blogs, we have found the Green ED programme hugely successful at embedding sustainable practices in the department, and we’re hopeful Green Impact will have a similar effect across the Trust. At just a few weeks since our launch, we have already reached our goal of 18 teams signed up to the toolkit; we couldn’t be more pleased with the enthusiasm shown by the teams already.

The Green Impact programme will allow staff to have a greater understanding of what UHP is doing to become more sustainable and therefore how to take part in embedding sustainability in the organisation. The practical framework in the toolkits supports carbon savings, cost savings and waste reduction as well as UHP’s Green Plan implementation.

Our first SOS UK personalised webinar will be this month- watch this space as our teams embark departmental sustainable change!
