UHP launched its new sustainable staff behaviour engagement programme ‘Choosing Greener’ on 1st February 2022, a pledge and reward scheme aimed at encouraging staff to adopt more sustainable behaviours. The platform is provided by a company called Jump, who have extensive experience with implementing successful campaigns in NHS Trusts and bring all areas of sustainability and wellbeing together in one holistic programme.
Sustainable actions are promoted through the online platform (via browser or App) and staff can record completion of activities to be awarded Green Points. Actions will cover all areas of sustainability and wellbeing such as energy reduction, carbon reduction, waste reduction and health and wellness. Green Points are accrued and participants are ranked on a leader board. Staff can also form groups within their departments to complete group activities.
The key aims and goals for the programme are:
Key themes will cover energy saving, waste, cycling and public transport, health, fitness and personal wellbeing, going paper-free
To share sustainability projects that are already happening at UHP
To educate and increase understanding of sustainability e.g. what is carbon?
To communicate the aims and objectives of the Trust’s Green Plan
Carry out a sustainability survey at the start of the programme to capture staff opinions
Give staff a forum to share and submit new sustainability ideas
Monthly individual rewards are awarded to the top two performers and a further two rewards will be raffled to give all staff a chance to receive a reward. In addition, rewards will be awarded to the top performing teams on a six monthly basis, which will consist of a donation to the Trust charity.
