Introducing the Sustainability Seal of Approval
The fifth member of the Sustainability Team is only 60cm tall, but his environment-saving skills are mega…Introducing Sven the Sustainability Seal of Approval! Sven became the latest member of the team and our Sustainability mascot in April 2024. Apart from being cute and a good cuddler, Sven’s job is to highlight the various departments across the organisation who are doing their bit to reduce waste, curb single use plastics, increase effective recycling and generally ‘green’ their department. Since then, Sven has met many of our Green Champions including Daisy in ED, Naomi and Holly in Infection Control and Mel at Tavistock Hospital- all these individuals and their teams have done amazing things to make their departments more sustainable. From growing sunflowers to swapping to less wasteful equipment to promoting #glovesoff, our Green Army continues to help to reduce UHP’s carbon footprint.
Moving forward, we will be taking Sven to departments like those mentioned above who are demonstrating excellent sustainable behaviours. Our visits will also include bestowing upon them the Sustainability Seal of Approval. Whilst the cuddle with adorable Sven will be a quick one, their framed seal can hang proudly on their office or ward wall to remind them of the great work they have done and will do.
