New sustainable transport hub coming to Derriford Hospital

Plymouth City Council’s (PCC) Connect Plymouth project aims to deliver up to 50 transport hubs across Plymouth. These hubs will include electric bikes, electric vehicle charging points and car club electric vehicles all linked together through a smart booking system. The project will aim to benefit local communities by improving travel options, improving the environment and connecting local communities within Plymouth.

Local residents, employees, businesses and visitors will be able use the Hubs to plan their journeys and book transport across the city. Through the deployment of the Mobility Hubs, PCC hope for reductions in carbon emissions and congestion, improvement of air quality, whilst also allowing communities throughout Plymouth to be able incorporate the Hubs into their everyday lives and enable the city to become easier to travel around.

UHP has agreed to site one of the Mobility Hubs on its Derriford site, and a split mobility hub is being considered in a defined area of Car Park A, where an electric car will be based and opposite Derriford Hospitals main entrance, where 8 Beryl e-bikes and stands will be located.  The Beryl e-bikes are set to be installed in June 2023, and the electric car later this year.

Also in our general area there will be e-bikes and stands based at the Mount Gould Hospital, John Bull Building, Plymouth Marjon University, Plymouth Science Park and the George Park and Ride.
