Reusable Curtain Projects comes Third at the NHS Excellence Awards
We are really proud to announce our reusable curtains project came third in the sustainable healthcare category in the NHS Excellence Awards!
The NHS Excellence Awards 2026 are run by, and for, the NHS - shining a light on local projects and teams who are making a real difference to patients and communities, delivering on the ambitions of the 10 Year Health Plan and inspiring others to adopt innovative approaches in their local area.
The Sustainable Healthcare Award recognises work that is helping to deliver high-quality patient care whilst also improving the impact on communities. It celebrates innovations that reduce waste, energy usage and emissions - improving local environments and the health of local communities and freeing up costs that can be redirected into frontline services.
Our Stericurtain rollout is set to save us approximately 54,260.7 kgCO2e as we'll avoid incinerating disposable curtains. Made from PVC-coated polyester, Stericurtain drapes like a conventional curtain and can be safely used in hospitals for a greener and cost-effective alternative to disposables. Once the Stericurtain reaches the end of its life, it is then recycled by the supplier to become something else. Read more about reusable curtains on our blog post.
