Plant a tree while searching the web

UHP has made the search engine ‘Ecosia’ available to staff should they wish to use a ‘greener’ search engine instead of popular search engines such as Google. Ecosia use all their profits for climate action, with at least 80% financing tree-planting projects around the world. On average, Ecosia will plant a tree for every 45 web searches you make and if everyone at UHP did this, we'd be able to plant 1000s of trees every month for free. To date, Ecosia have planted 154,161,909 trees worldwide.
Plus, to help UK users show their appreciation for the incredible efforts of NHS key workers during the pandemic, Ecosia partnered with the NHS Forest and Trees for Cities to launch the #GrowYourLove campaign, a long-term, forward-looking initiative to plant trees in and near hospitals in the UK.
To change your default search engine to Ecosia, whether you are a member of the public or UHP staff, just do the following:
1. Open Google Chrome
2. Click the ' ? ' symbol in the top right-hand corner, then click 'Settings'
3. Click 'Search engine' in the left-hand menu
4. Select 'Ecosia' from the drop-down menu
If you ever want to know how many trees you've planted, you can see how many searches you've done on https://www.ecosia.org/
